Summary
rotate.video processes your videos entirely in your browser. Video files you open are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
What is processed, and where
- Your video files are read and rendered by your own browser. They do not leave your device.
- Saved work on your device. So that you can resume after a reload, the tool keeps the current file, your settings and finished renders in your browser's IndexedDB storage for this site. Temporary render chunks are discarded after seven days. Everything stays on your device until you clear this site's data in your browser.
- Preferences such as your light/dark theme choice are kept in your browser's local storage.
- Format fallback. If your browser cannot decode a file natively, the page downloads the open-source ffmpeg.wasm engine from the public unpkg.com CDN. That download reveals your IP address to the CDN; your video is not sent.
Hosting and server logs
The site is delivered as static files by our hosting and content-delivery provider, Cloudflare. Like any web server, it processes technical request data, such as your IP address, browser user agent and the URL requested, to deliver pages and protect the service from abuse. We use this only to operate the site securely (legal basis: legitimate interests, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). Retention: [TO COMPLETE: log retention period].
Cookies, analytics and Global Privacy Control
rotate.video sets no cookies and shows no advertising. To count visits and see which pages are useful, we use two cookieless analytics services: Cloudflare Web Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics. They record aggregate page views, the referring site, an approximate country and your browser and device type. They store nothing on your device, do not fingerprint you or follow you across other websites, and never see your videos, which stay on your device. Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in understanding how the site is used.
Because nothing is stored on your device, there is no cookie banner. We do not sell or share personal data. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser is therefore always honoured: nothing changes because nothing is sold or shared to begin with.
